5mW Green Laser Pointer

The 5mW green laser pointer actually looks just like a pen but the beam has a good range of over 6,000 feet. That enables you to point to objects a good long distance away. It is great for indicating certain stars if you are into amateur astronomy for instance.

even children would be able to make out what you were pointing at if you were attempting to educate them about the stars. If you were involved with any sort of youth activity like the scouts this would be a valuable tool to point out anything that you wanted to talk about.

The laser pointer is a good teaching tool but remember to use it just as a tool always take the proper precautions so that you can enjoy the benefits without any worries.

I would point out that you should never aim the laser into a mirror and look at the reflection. It is never a good idea to look directly at a laser beam even though the strength is not considered especially dangerous. It wouldn’t be sensible to risk your eyes trying to prove that point.

The only real problem for you when using something like this within a group of people is that so many will want to have a look at it and try it for themselves you will be lucky to get it back again and still have any power left.

Never be tempted to point this beam at aircraft. Apart from the obvious danger you could bring about by distracting a pilot you can expect to get yourself into big trouble with the authorities.

The 5mW are 100% legal in the US and most other countries but nevertheless this does not mean you should use it indiscriminately, just shining anywhere you think. At peoples windows, cars, people, use it sensibly even in a fun way, and you shouldn’t have any trouble.

The 5mW green laser pointer is the safest one you can use without it having a IR [infra red] filter. It would need a great deal more exposure than 5mW to do you or anyone round you any harm.

The batteries for the 5mW pen are just the small 2AAA batteries which are available just about anywhere. Some of these laser products can have a lifetime of somewhere around 3000 hours, not the batteries of course. Their power life will depend entirely upon how much you use your pointer and on the quality of the pointer that you purchase.
